Commemorative Park Bench Program

A bench can be an attractive oasis in any park, and a commemorative bench adds beauty and permanence in honoring that special person, a loved-one, a group, or even an organization. In turn, that bench provides a unique and useful amenity to any park site where one can sit and relax, enjoy children playing, appreciate nature, or admire a beautiful sunset. Donate a park bench to enhance our local parks and create your personal sanctuary in remembrance and honor of someone that was special to you.

Park Bench Donation & Recognition

  1. New Park Bench: The cost of a new Commemorative Park Bench is
    $2,500.00 which includes the purchase of the bench, installation,
    maintenance, the Commemorative Plaque affixed to the bench, plus
    a commemorative certificate that you can keep in recognition of your
    generous gift to the Park District.
  2. Plaque Only: The cost to Commemorative Plaque on a pre-existing Park
    Bench is $1,200.00 which only includes the Plaque affixed to a pre-existing
    park bench, plus a commemorative certificate that you may keep in
    recognition of your contribution to the Park Bench Fund.

Special Consideration

  • Allow at least 3 months for your bench to be shipped and installed.
  • Orders will be accepted at any time, but benches will be installed based upon
    weather conditions from April – October only.
  • All orders must be paid in advance before a bench is ordered.
  • The location of your park bench will be determined by the Park District based upon need and/or availability.
  • The style and color of the park bench will be determined by the Park District in order to maintain continuity of all park sites amenities and appearance.
  • The Park District will be responsible for any maintenance of the park bench throughout its expected lifespan.
  • After 5 years, the Berkeley Park District will not be obligated to replace the bench due to damage, vandalism, and extensive weathering.
  • Although unlikely, the Berkeley Park District reserves the right to relocate and/or remove any bench as maybe warranted in the best interest of maintaining and/or further development of this park site.
